Hershey’s Mill Community Garden
Hershey’s Mill has a Community Garden with over 150 separate garden plots for those with a green thumb; or those just wanting to try their hand at raising some of the food they eat. The plots are broken down into large and small sizes, all with convenient watering hose locations. There are two sheds full of garden equipment available to borrow at the plots. Residents, who wish to, chip in and purchase soil and chips at the beginning of each season. Teamwork gets the product distributed.
As you walk through the plots you’ll see everything planted from asparagus to zucchini and a variety of flowers. As the planting became plentiful excess fruits and vegetables are collected and delivered to the West Chester Food Bank for those less fortunate.
The Garden area has a beautiful Gazebo and sitting benches next to a bubbling brook that flows through the property. The Gazebo hosts Community parties from time to time.
Garden plots are in great demand and many times there is a waiting list so sign up early.
